North
Star Productions is a nonprofit corporation with a 501 (c)3 tax exempt
status, and governed by a volunteer board of directors.

The
Institute of Outdoor Drama at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill,
has completed a feasibility study enthusiastically endorsing the development of
the outdoor drama. The following is an excerpt from the study:
"Few
project proposals appear to have such high prospects for success as the Augusta
drama proposal. Its merit and potential for artistic, cultural, and economic
prosperity are high, and it is the opinion of the study team and the Institute
of Outdoor Drama that the project should be aggressively pursued..."

Over 300 acres of property reflecting the natural beauty of the tri-state area,
located in Kentucky and overlooking the Ohio River, has been acquired. A site
has been selected by The Institute of Outdoor Drama, for the 1,000 seat
amphitheatre and an adjacent historical village for the purpose of depicting
life in the Tri-State area during the 1850's.

Star Productions has hired the playwright team of Isaac Turner and Ken
Jones, contracted with KZF Design, Inc. for an overall master plan, and
employed an engineering firm to design the road. North Star is currently
working on a environmental study with the State of Kentucky and also has Joe
Conger as Consulting Artistic Director.

The
project has received many letters of support from prominent citizens of the
tri-state area, including business leaders, historians, theatre professionals,
educators, as well as political and civic leaders.
Benefits

The feasibility study projects an $11,000,000.00 impact to the region for
the outdoor drama's season of 10 weeks. Additional income to the region will
result with the Center being used for additional months before and after the
performing season. An excess of 100+ seasonal jobs will be brought to the
area, with an additional five to eight jobs requiring full time personnel.

Tourism
will be increased by bringing an estimated 60,000+ theater attendees during the summer
months, along with tourism from additional spring and fall programs.

A
state-of-the-art outdoor facility, with its own on-site parking, will be
available to local communities for a variety of uses during spring and fall
months.

The
amphitheatre may also be used to bring additional cultural and educational
activities, such as concerts, gospel and folk music festivals, theatre and
history clinics, seminars, etc.

facility will be in complete compliance with the Americans With Disabilities
Act.

corporate, senior and student ticket discounts will be available for each
production.
Education

North
Star Productions is dedicated to imaginations of students and teachers with
many prospects for student involvement in related historical projects, such as
walking tours, behind the scenes tours and assistance in student produced
dramas, musical events and writing challenges. An affiliation with a university
to offer course credit in theatre in conjunction with the outdoor drama is under
construction.
